What are specific phobias?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Specific phobias are a common type of anxiety disorder. It is the experience of intense fear or anxiety, beyond the usual reaction, in anticipation of or exposure to an object or situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are five common groups of specific phobias:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Animal (e.g., spiders, insects, dogs, snakes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Natural environment (e.g., heights, storms, water, bridges)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Blood-injection-injury (e.g., needles, invasive medical procedures)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Situational (e.g., airplanes, elevators, enclosed places)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Other (e.g., choking, vomiting)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    What are the symptoms of specific phobias?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    People who experience specific phobias may experience a variety of symptoms which may include some or all of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
