Psycho-educational assessments are used to identify learning disabilities, giftedness, and the presence of any mental health issues (e.g., anxiety, depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) that may be impacting learning and healthy development.
The assessments involve clinical interviewing, completion of standardized psychological testing and questionnaires, and collateral information from parents and sometimes from the child’s teacher.
These detailed assessments help identify learning strengths and weaknesses in order to tailor interventions to address the specific needs of the child.
A detailed report is prepared to describe the results of the assessment. The results and recommendations will be discussed in a feedback session with both the parent(s) and child.
